Adam Vetere is an inspirational, innovative and award-winning garden designer in Winchester and the Hampshire area. He has a unique combination of expertise in horticulture, graphic design, practical landscaping and business design. From small town house gardens to multi acre schemes for large country homes, Adam has worked on a variety of projects, delivering them all with an equal enthusiasm for the challenges they bring. He is continually driven by his passion for plants and sustainable design.

Adam Vetere is an accomplished designer, creating his first designs in the early 1990s at a reputable landscape design and construction company, working with them for several years.

Adam soon had the opportunity put his extensive graphical design training to good use as he built visionary and practical designs himself. Through this, he gained a greater understanding of the practical and budgetary limits of the materials and the time needed to implement a design scheme.

When Adam underwent a subtle change of career into business and financial design, he took on a role where the need for design and the future were key concerns; how will the business grow, how will it develop, how will it succeed in a particular environment? These are all the fundamentals that a great garden designer needs to understand with the plants, the climate and their positioning.

Winchester holds a number of tranquil, beautiful gardens, such as Abbey Gardens and the Dean Garnier Garden.

Located in the grounds of Winchester Cathedral, the Dean Garnier Garden is a walled garden created in the 1990s to commemorate Thomas Garnier, Dean of Winchester 1840–1872.

From the beginning to the end of my garden project it has been a pleasure to work with Adam. Adam laid out the process very clearly so I knew my options and we agreed a brief. Having been invited to see his own garden I knew I could trust his judgement and I wasn’t disappointed when he talked me through the design idea. He had designed a garden that fitted the features of the house as well as my own artist style which made it extra special; incorporating my fused glass was an unexpected chance to put my own stamp on the garden. Adam project managed the whole process brilliantly too. The planting has amazing combinations of plants in textures, scents and colours, many of which I had not been familiar with. With a plant list and maintenance instructions I feel equipped to help his vision develop as the months go by. Every day I look forward to seeing what new delights the garden offers.
