Hosted this year by the APL’s General Manager, Phil Tremayne and renowned garden designer, writer and public speaker, Peter Donegan, this annual event recognises, and rewards registered members who are committed to providing the highest standards of landscape contracting and client satisfaction. Projects must demonstrate technical and horticultural excellence.

We won ‘Best in Category’ – APL Collaboration with JJH Landscapes for our Hampshire Project ‘Our Happy Place’. Similarly, the project won ‘Best in Category’ for ‘Design over £75k’.

This garden was designed for our client with ‘a sense of escapism’ at its design core. While the design brief was to create an exciting, dynamic outdoor space which made a strong, structural statement in terms of both hard and soft landscaping, it also sought to provide our client with a fully immersive space for quiet contemplation, relaxation and escapism. The planting design scheme has been carefully curated to reflect our client’s years growing up in South Africa.

Our ‘Contemporary Rooftop Garden’ Project won ‘Best in Category’ for ‘Design under £75k’.

Despite the challenge of incredibly restrictive weight loadings on the rooftop, an open, soulless 100m2 rooftop space has been transformed into a beautiful, contemporary roof garden, with dynamic zones for dining, relaxing and entertaining family and friends. Inspired by our client’s eclectic mix of furniture and artwork, the design creates a seamless narrative between the interior and exterior spaces.

Both projects received ‘Gold’ awards for the soft landscaping – planting design schemes.

The icing on the cake however, would have to be the coveted ‘Designer of the Year 2025’ award. It is an honour to be recognised and rewarded by the APL for the design projects we are most passionate about. It is also a privilege to share the evening with our fellow designers, contractors and suppliers.
